The UCDC is acquiring vacant lots to build new homes throughout the AUC communities. The new construction will be a balance of market rate and affordable housing, with an emphasis on affordable ownership. The design will be in keeping with the historical character of the neighborhoods. The construction and building materials will be of the highest quality. Owners will have a range of options for floor plans, and amenities. The 3 to 4 bedroom units come with 2 or 2.5 baths. Nine homes have been completed and sold so far, with an additional six homes to be completed this year.

Housing Rehabilitation Initiative (Click for more information)
This on-going program has the UCDC acquiring abandoned or dilapidated housing, rehabilitating the property, and selling homes to families with households in the affordable and market rate income ranges. Houses are located throughout the targeted UCDC area. Three homes are currently under scheduled for renovation and will be available Summer 2006. Homes are most often 2 or 3 bedrooms and 2 to 2 ½ baths. The price for the affordable units ranges between $145,000 and $195,000. Market rate units will start at $200,000.
